"Food tasted amazing and the staff are super friendly. The place used to be a house but got converted into a restaurant, and it looks really cool on the inside. They got a drinking spot called "The Basement" and the atmosphere down there is great. The bartender and the other staff are also very interesting to chat with and she makes amazing cocktails. It's an amazing place to go to for a date."

"Now this is why we love Google Maps, wouldn't have known or seen of this place otherwise, traveling Cebu. The entrance is in the inner private street, a short turn from the main street/AS Fortuna. I love this place. It's so chill and relaxed. It's like a garden restaurant and, in a breezy afternoon, it was so pleasing to be dining on the outdoor upper floor between the trees. I tried their charcoal chicken and it was tasty even without the dip. Although at 3ish in the afternoon, it was served lukewarm. Staff were cool, too. Would highly recommend to try this place."

"I went here for brunch but all their dishes are available as early as they open. Even the Lebanese grilled chicken, which I will try next time, as well as other dishes. It was quite dark inside but I didn't mind that. It just made the atmosphere homey, like I am in the balay. I ordered the Balai Plate, Mango Juice, and Chicken Skin. The food is affordable and really delicious."

"Balai is one of those hole-in-the-wall places full of quiet surprises. It’s not your typical bright, pastel café, in fact, it leans into darker tones, rich textures, and an “imperfectly perfect” charm. It feels like a lived-in home thoughtfully turned into a café. The main dining area is dim but well-lit enough to create an intimate space for slow conversations over good food. Service was excellent. The servers were attentive, and the manager made sure everything ran smoothly. We ordered the Lebanese-inspired chicken, a shake, craft beer, and coffee. Everything was well done, and the coffee paired beautifully with the small cookies served alongside it. This is the kind of place you don’t just visit once, you come back to, again and again, to discover more each time."
